The topic for today is very simple, yet essential: We are going to learn the days of the week in English. Pay attention, because we are getting started! By the end of this lesson, you will not only know how to say the days in English but also how to write and pronounce them correctly. Plus, we will enjoy a fun song that I am sure you will love, and don’t forget to stick around for some exercises at the end!
Introduction to Days of the Week
First, let’s review the days of the week in Spanish, which are:
- Lunes
- Martes
- Miércoles
- Jueves
- Viernes
- Sábado
- Domingo
But do you know the days of the week in English? Let’s learn to say and write them!
Days of the Week in English
Spanish | English |
---|---|
Lunes | Monday |
Martes | Tuesday |
Miércoles | Wednesday |
Jueves | Thursday |
Viernes | Friday |
Sábado | Saturday |

One important note is that while in Spanish, the days of the week are not capitalized, in English, each day starts with a capital letter.
Learning Through Song
Now that we know how to say and write the days of the week, let’s move on to our song. Singing is one of the best ways to memorize new information! Here’s part of our fun days of the week song:
“Satur is so much fun, seven days, that’s all we say. Learn them H H S days, that’s all we say! Now we know them every day. Sundays first, then comes Mon, Tuesday, Wednesday, let’s move on, Thursday, Friday, dance away!”
Exercises to Reinforce Learning
Now it’s time to put your knowledge to the test! Below are some exercises where you have to identify the day of yesterday and tomorrow:
Exercise 1: Identify Yesterday and Tomorrow
